Born in Montreal in 1958, Carlo Cosentino has been painting and sculpting
for 30 years.His constantly expanding client list includes; IBM, Seagram`s,
Pepsi Cola, Toshiba, Cannon, Celanese, Toyota, Imperial Tobacco Ltd. Comfortable
with all mediums, Carlo paints mostly with oils on canvas . Whether it is
a portrait or a landscape he has a unique way of capturing light. His poster
art has been used to promote the annual Jazz Festival in the cities of Montreal,
Toronto, Vancouver, Edmonton and Winnipeg.
He was chosen by the Montreal Board of Trade to create an original poster to be used as a visual and informational tool to sell the city of Montreal. He was commissioned by the internationally renowned Pan Pacific Hotel in Vancouver to produce their promotional piece. His work in the fine arts can be found in corporate collections internationally. Up to this point, his paintings have only been available in Quebec, but he has begun to respond to interest from Galleries outside the province. In 1989, Imperial Tobacco Ltd. who was sponsoring the Canadian Open, commissionned him for a painting to depict the event. The success of the project rewarded him with commissions for the Montreal and Trois-Riviere Grand-Prix, the Players international and the Matinée International.
Carlo`s first solo exhibit was held in 1991. Entitled "Golf Porfolio" it sold out in 3 days. People are drawn to his work, attracted to his vibrant palette, his use of light and the subject he chooses to paint. Each piece evokes warmth and an invitation to the viewer to become part of the setting. Carlo marries impeccable technique to an emotionally charged, highly personnalized approach to his subject matter, producing art with an enormous sense of immediacy and power.
Dedication, consistency and hard work have earned him a solid reputation with his clients. His sports work includes: commissionned portraits of both Gilles Villeneuve and his son Jacques, Buck Rodgers, Phillipe Alou, Andre Dawson, Tim Wallach, Tim Raines, Jim Fanning and many more.
In 1994 The "Artist`s Magazine" honored him with a second place
in their Annual art competition. More recently his painting was chosen as
a Finalist for the "Artist`s Magazine 2001 Art Competition. His award
winning painting was published in the 2002 Limited Edition wall Calendar.
He also took first place at the "Symposium des Patriarches" his
painting was purchased by the city of Montreal and will be displayed at City
Hall.
One of his paintings depicting the Bank of Montreal building was selected
by "Communication Arts" for the 42nd Annual Juried Illustration
Competition. His painting of a pious woman during prayers at the Oratory
of Mount-Royal is one of the FINALISTS in the APPLIED ARTS Magazine published
in July 2002. His painting entitled "Steel Symphony" will be honored
in the January 2003 Applied Arts Awards Annual. Once again The Artist Magazine
selected one of Carlo`s recent paintings over 14,000 other works in the
2002 landscapes competition. It will be featured along with an interview
in the december edition. International Artist Magazine chose "A Winter
Pause" as one of their Finalists. The painting is featured in the August
September 2002 Edition. On Sunday August 4th Carlo`s was a guest on "Sportivi
in Deretti". A 15 minute interview describing his passion for the Arts
and displaying recent paintings and scuptures from his web site.
In may 2005,
one of Carlo's painting depicting a Montreal Winter scene was chosen to be part of
The Salon International Exhibit in San Antonio, Texas. Fifty two American states and fourteen
other countries were participating at this event. Simultaneously Carlo's was having a one
Man Show at the Gallery Pierre Seguin that regrouped 30 paintings and two bronzes sculptures.
